Job Description
The Investment Analyst will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring proper financial reporting for various entities with investment in real estate properties through joint ventures, plus special projects and analysis. Position is hybrid remote working on site Tuesday/Thursday.
Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:30pm
$120,000-$135,000/year + Benefits
Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of general ledger, including monthly general ledger account reconciliations and reviewing journal entries for accurate and timely month-end closing, for all the entities assigned.
- Supervise accounts payable process ensuring invoices are coded properly and paid timely.
- Assist with fund transfers for monthly capital calls from real estate investment joint ventures.
- Assist Corporate Controller with cash flow projections on a weekly basis.
- Review monthly financial reports prepared by third-party property managers and joint venture partners to ensure financials are prepared in accordance with US GAAP and to gain understanding of property operations.
- Prepare financial reporting to third-party joint venture partners, where applicable.
- Prepare quarterly and year-end financial statements for all the entities assigned, including investor entities, joint ventures and property owner entities.
- Review and understand various agreements, including but not limited to, joint venture agreements, loan agreements, third-party property management agreements, etc.
- Prepare lender reporting packages.
- Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures to ensure consistency and accuracy in financial reporting.
- Implement and maintain effective internal controls over financial reporting and safe-guarding company’s assets and preventing fraud.
- Analyze current processes, and recommend improvements for efficiency and implement new processes with upper management.
- Collaborate with other members of the accounting and tax team and Investment team members as well as other departments such as Legal Department.
- Maintain effective communication with third-party property managers, joint venture partners, and lenders.
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff, assigning tasks, reviewing work, and providing professional development opportunities.
- Researching accounting issues for compliance with generally accepted accounting principles.
- Prepare reports for upper management and owners, as requested.
- Serves as a liaison to external auditors for year-end financial statement audit, if any.
- Follow all organizational systems, programs, training, policies and procedures as required and complies with relevant legal mandates.
- Handle various other duties as delegated by Management.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
- 5+ years of real estate accounting experience
- Familiar with joint ventures and partnerships
- Able to communicate findings regarding potential investments
- Strong computer skills and proficient in Excel including pivot tables and Vlookup
