About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Multifamily Asset Manager to join our team in either our Chicago, IL, Washington, DC or Boca Raton, FL office. This role will be directly responsible for the performance and strategic oversight of a regional portfolio of multifamily properties. You will serve as the lead between our property management teams, construction teams, and ownership group to execute business plans and maximize property-level value.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee a regional portfolio of value-add multifamily assets (Class B & C), from acquisition through disposition. This includes a portfolio of around 3,000-5,000 units throughout the Midwest, Southeast and Florida.
- Drive performance by monitoring KPIs, financial performance, leasing trends, and operational efficiencies.
- Develop and maintain detailed financial models in Excel, including variance analysis, sensitivity models, and return projections.
- Collaborate with property management to implement capital improvement plans, expense control strategies, and rent optimization.
- Conduct regular site visits and lead monthly asset performance calls with internal and external stakeholders.
- Analyze operating budgets, capital expenditures, rent rolls, and leasing strategies to ensure alignment with the asset's business plan.
- Assist in due diligence and underwriting for acquisitions and participate in post-acquisition integration.
- Report to senior leadership on asset performance and recommend strategic decisions including refinancing, capital infusions, or sale timing.
- Track and report on renovation scopes, ROI, and leasing velocity on upgraded units.
- Partner with legal, accounting, and investor relations teams to support ownership and investor reporting.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in multifamily asset management.
- Proven track record with value-add strategies, especially for Class B and C properties.
- Deep understanding of property operations, capex planning, leasing, budgeting, and ROI analysis.
- Advanced Excel skills required (pivot tables, financial modeling, IRR calculations, sensitivity analysis, etc).
- Bachelor's degree in real estate, Finance, Business, or related field; MBA or CPM designation a plus.
- Highly organized, self-motivated, and capable of managing multiple projects across different geographies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work across functions and with third-party operators.
- Willingness to travel regularly to assets in assigned region - expect travel 1-2 times per month.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary starting at $140,000 - $165,000 + Competitive Bonus, commensurate with experience.
