Overview: The Vice President, Real Estate provides leadership and oversight of Real Estate Lending Operations. Responsible for strategic organization, planning and oversight of MCU’s Residential Lending program including portfolio management, originations, operations, in-house servicing and quality control. Develop products, pricing, policies and procedures for senior management review. Manages Mortgage Sales and Service Managers.
Responsibilities:
Specific duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Responsible for setting strategy and implementation of tactics to help achieve MCU’s overall goals and objectives for the mortgage program and overall portfolio.
- Responsible for overall portfolio management including pricing, managing to concentration limits established, monitoring and reporting, as well as selling to the secondary market.
- Develop short and long term goals and objectives for the Mortgage/Home Equity Lending Unit; facilitate growth in the market, relationship building and operational soundness.
- Identify opportunities for new and /or improved products, services, proper pricing and processes to ensure the highest level of loan production, quality, and competitiveness.
- Monitors and works closely with the leadership team to improve and efficiently operate the department.
- Evaluates performance, reviews operating statistics and insures that procedures are consistent with Federal and State rules and regulations as well as the Credit Union's policies and procedures.
- Attract, retain, and develop each employee to their highest potential by appropriately coaching, training and mentoring.
- Supervise and conducts sales and purchases of mortgage loans to secondary market investors (FHLB FANNIE MAE, & SONYMA).
- Develops sources of business through active membership in trade organizations and direct solicitation.
- Hires, Trains, schedules, assign work to, evaluate, and authoritatively recommend discipline and discharge of Real Property Department staff.
- Responsible for maintaining accurate records and adherence to budgetary goals.
- Develops policies and procedures of the Mortgage/Home Equity Lending Unit.
- Underwriting escalated loans within approved authority
- Travel as required
- Perform other related duties as requested and special projects as assigned
Requirements:
- Master’s degree in business, finance, or related field preferred or a Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent experience
- 10+ years of similar or related experience.
- Strong progressive leadership/management experience in the Residential Lending field.
- A thorough knowledge of all secondary market guidelines and all regulations of outside governing bodies.
- An understanding of the Credit Union's internal systems to monitor and reconcile performance.
- Thorough understanding of residential mortgage lending and servicing including process flow, product, guidelines and compliance
- Demonstrated success in planning, organizing, leading people and activities. Ability to motivate, direct and coach staff.
- Ability to perform in a high-volume environment and meet deadlines while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
- Technologically proficient.
