Position Summary
The Senior Vice President - Real Estate Lending leads all aspects of the Real Estate lending process, assuring team members provide superior service. This role works directly with Amplify Leadership on the strategic and tactical initiatives of the department to accomplish the financial and other objectives of Amplify Credit Union. The position incumbent is expected to exercise broad discretion within Amplify and has full P&L responsibility for this business line Policies to meet and exceed stated objectives.
RESPONSIBILITIES Include The Following. Other Duties As Assigned.
- Collaborates closely with executive leadership to define Amplify’s mortgage lending operations model, define product mix, design/deliver a distinctive service experience, and implement appropriate oversite governance.
- Serves as a member of the Management Loan Committee and represents credit union management at Board of Directors meetings.
- Leads and directs all Retail, Wholesale and Correspondent mortgage lending activities while ensuring compliance with credit union lending policies and accomplishing the production and income objectives of Amplify; continually striving to facilitate streamlined approaches that enhance the market reputation of Amplify Credit Union.
- Responsible for timely processing, underwriting, funding, and closing of real estate loan volume including first and second mortgages, home equity and home equity lines of credit-- including, monitoring, and recommending changes to underwriting guidelines and real estate lending policy to manage to credit union risk tolerance, reputation, compliance, and remain competitive while maintaining service level agreements.
- Leads Secondary Marketing team to develop and implement loan sales through Agency, Correspondent, and Participation methods including developing strategic decisions that affect pricing and execution of mortgage loan pipeline.
- Based on detailed knowledge of Capital Markets, Investor and Agency guidelines/requirements, works with executive leadership ensure that production conforms to industry accepted norms.
- Establishes and monitors goals for achieving production objectives as well as the development and growth of existing and new market share.
- Drives and manages growth in non-interest income through current and non-traditional means.
- Monitors interest rate, housing market, and competitive landscapes to determine both areas of opportunity and potential threats for the business while effectively advising and collaboratively problem-solving with executive management to establish short-term and long-term strategies and initiatives that create valuable and sustainable business solutions. Establishes individual and departmental goals and objectives in alignment with the company’s strategic business plan.
- Captures, analyzes, and understands the internal environment, team dynamics, and talent capabilities to address department organizational refinement, agility, and growth. Provide business vision by creating imagery and transparency in the possibilities, opportunities, and direction of the future.
- Works with Amplify Leadership to establish and manage annual budgets for all aspects of Real Estate Lending; leads the division to exceed cost control, productivity, and profitability metrics.
- Maintains operations that are compliant with internal policy and external regulations.
- Works with Compliance on various requirements for Fair Lending, HMDA, and ERM reporting and analysis; consults with internal compliance officers and external resources regarding real estate industry practices and the impact of compliance regulations, including but not limited to Fair Lending, ATR/QM, AML, Reg B (ECOA), Reg C (HMDA), Reg Z (TILA), Reg X(RESPA), FCRA and MDIA.
- Delivers new systems, solutions, and processes that cost effectively meet internal and external stakeholder needs, while paying particular attention to risk assessment standards.
- Provides training to Real Estate staff and external stakeholders on processing, underwriting, closing/funding, loan delivery, quality control and compliance policies, guidelines, and procedures, to ensure consistency, quality and value.
- Regularly attends internal and external training courses, educational meetings, webinars, and/or seminars to stay informed of lending and compliance policies, procedures, guidelines and regulatory and legal matters; stays current on CFPB, NCUA, HUD and GSE guidelines; completes Amplify’s annual training requirements.
- Upholds credit union policies and procedures and champions organizational culture both internally and externally.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This job involves management of other managers or supervisors as well as individual contributors within the Real Estate Lending Division.
This position is responsible for the overall direction, staffing levels, evaluations, staff knowledge, staff training, development and attitude of all members of the Real Estate Lending team.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; maintaining attendance records in automated timekeeping system; leading monthly departmental meetings; scheduling, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; conducting individual monthly coaching sessions; conducting annual salary reviews; updating job descriptions as needed; creating performance plans; tracking individual incentives; rewarding, motivating and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; analyzing and interpreting information related to demographics, sales trends, staffing levels, transaction volumes, and other related statistics of productivity, quality and service.
Maintains ongoing communication with President/CEO, informing him/her of all pertinent problems, irregularities, new developments, changes, and other important information within area of responsibility. Attends meetings and facilitates department meetings as scheduled, as directed, or as necessary for effective leadership of the department.

Education And/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree and five years operations management experience, or 10+ years of qualified experience in leading and managing a successful mortgage operations team.
Previous financial services experience and previous experience with mortgage and home equity compliance, quality control and secondary market activities is required.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Must be bondable and be able to be registered with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System.
Software And Equipment Requirements
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge and be efficient with the use of a personal computer, Microsoft Office products (Intermediate level skills with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word), Credit Bureau Systems and financial calculators. Knowledge of Encompass Loan Originator Software is highly beneficial, but not necessarily required. Must have experience with Desktop Underwriter and/or Loan Prospector underwriting systems. Ability to learn and train others in the use of specialized mortgage lending software will be required.
Must have reliable internet access of 50MBPS which is the minimum speed required to connect to several of our systems and platforms.
Other Qualifications
Prior experience working with Executive Leadership to create and implement a plan to centralize and standardize operations from various real estate loan products;
Experience in Portfolio Real Estate Lending;
In-depth knowledge of licensing requirements for a FNMA-approved Seller/Servicer of Mortgage Loans and FHA/VA fully delegated Lending;
Proven experience in proactive process improvement techniques and motivating staff to excel in operations and service;
Training preparation and delivery experience.

Starting Pay & Benefits
This role offers a salary range of $217,910-$348,090. It also entails the benefits available to all Amplify employees, including a 401(k) with a company match of 100% on the first 5% you contribute.
