At ADWEEK, our Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) serves as a strategic liaison between our employees, leadership team, and PEO partner to align people strategies with business objectives. This role combines operational excellence with strategic insight to drive organizational success through effective people management, process optimization, and talent acquisition support. As the primary advocate for our employees and advisor to our leadership, the HRBP plays a critical role in shaping our workplace culture, enhancing employee engagement, and ensuring compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
This is a New York based role and is expected to be in the office 3x/week. This role reports to ADWEEK’s CEO.
Key Responsibilities
PEO Management & Employee Relations
- Serve as the strategic liaison between ADWEEK and our PEO partner, ensuring optimal service delivery and alignment with business objectives
- Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of PEO-administered programs to effectively translate complex policies into actionable guidance for employees and managers
- Review and validate PEO-administered payroll, benefits, and compliance functions through regular audits to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance
- Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions)
- Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues through effective, thorough, and objective investigations
- Lead the employee onboarding and off-boarding processes in coordination with the PEO, creating positive experiences that align with our company culture
- Coordinate multi-state leave requirements (FMLA, NY PFL, NY DBL) with the PEO, maintaining in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to employee management
HR Process Development & Optimization
- Analyze trends and metrics to develop solutions, programs, and policies that enhance operational efficiency and employee experience
- Design, implement, and document streamlined HR workflows and standard operating procedures that align with business objectives
- Create and maintain comprehensive HR documentation, including policies and process guides that ensure regulatory compliance across multiple jurisdictions
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives for HR operations, identifying opportunities to enhance service delivery and operational excellence
- Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations across all HR processes, partnering with legal department as needed
- Support our UK team with benefits and systems access, maintaining knowledge of international HR practices
Talent Acquisition
- Partner with leadership to develop strategic talent acquisition plans that align with business needs and organizational growth objectives
- Enhance our employer brand by developing standardized recruitment materials and candidate evaluation tools that reflect our company culture
- Manage the applicant tracking system, ensuring a positive candidate experience through timely and professional communications
- Screen candidates effectively to identify top talent that aligns with both position requirements and company values
- Conduct thorough employment verification and reference checks to ensure quality hiring decisions
- Track and analyze recruitment metrics to continuously improve the hiring process and provide strategic insights to leadership
Employee Experience & Strategic Initiatives
- Partner with leadership to implement employee engagement initiatives that foster a positive workplace culture
- Design and coordinate performance review processes that support employee development and organizational goals
- Assist with the administration of company events and recognition programs that reinforce our values and enhance employee satisfaction
- Gather and analyze employee feedback to identify improvement opportunities and inform strategic HR initiatives
- Drive learning and development initiatives through our HRIS platform, supporting employee growth and organizational capability building
- Develop and implement strategic retention plans and thoughtful transition processes for departing employees
- Provide support for immigration and visa processes when needed, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, or related field
- 3-7 years HR experience with at least 2 years in a business partner role
- Experience working with Professional Employer Organizations (PEOs)
- Demonstrated knowledge of multi-state employment laws and leave regulations
- Experience with full-cycle recruitment coordination and talent management
- Strong strategic thinking capabilities with the ability to align HR initiatives with business objectives
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build relationships at all organizational levels
- Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment in complex situations
- Experience working independently and proactively in a small organization environment
- Entrepreneurial mindset and self-starter attitude with ability to thrive in ambiguity
- Comfort with fast-moving, changing environments and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
- Proficiency with HRIS systems and process documentation
Preferred
- Media or advertising industry experience
- Experience with international HR practices, particularly in the UK
- Process improvement or project management certifications or experience
- Experience developing HR analytics and using data to drive decision-making
- Change management experience with proven ability to lead organizational transformation initiatives
