The HR Generalist plays a key role in supporting day-to-day human resources operations, ensuring compliance with policies, and fostering a positive workplace culture. This role is responsible for a broad range of HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, payroll, benefits administration, performance management, and compliance.
Responsibilities
Workforce Planning:
- Partner with business leaders to forecast workforce needs and align recruitment strategies
- Lead the full lifecycle of the recruitment and hiring process
- Administer onboarding and orientation for new employees
Employee Relations and Development:
- Act as a trusted advisor to leaders and employees on HR issues, fostering positive employee relations
- Provide guidance on conflict resolution, performance management, and compliance with company policies and labor laws
- Investigate and resolve employee grievances and disciplinary issues
- Support leaders in identifying skill gaps and opportunities for training
- Lead the design and facilitation of annual employee review cycles
- Conduct initiatives to enhance employee satisfaction, well-being, and overall engagement
Payroll:
- Process semi-monthly payroll for all employees accurately and on time
- Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws
- Manage employee deductions, garnishments, bonuses, and commissions
- Respond to payroll inquiries from employees
- Work with finance/accounting on payroll reconciliation and reporting
- Stay up to date on payroll regulations and tax laws
Compliance & Risk Management:
- Ensure that policies and procedures are compliant with local, state, and federal laws
- Regularly audit HR practices and recommend improvements to align with legal requirements and business needs
- Support HR initiatives and projects related to organizational development, compensation, benefits, and compliance
- Maintain and update employee records
Minimum Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
- Minimum of 3 years HR experience, with at least 2 years in a generalist or strategic HR role
- SHRM or PHR certification preferred
- In-depth knowledge of HR best practices and current federal, state, and local laws
- Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to develop strong working relationships with all levels of the organization
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities with a proactive attitude
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Experience with employee relations or performance management
- HR experience in Mexico, including local labor law compliance, talent acquisition, and employee relations
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
Occasional travel required to other company locations in Midland, Texas, and Lafayette, Louisiana.
Hybrid work schedule.
The annual salary range for this role is $70,000-$80,000.
