Position Overview
The VP of Human Resources based in Los Angeles will lead the strategic direction of the HR function for a dynamic and growing fashion brand with a multi-state retail presence. This VP of Human Resources role is responsible for developing and executing HR strategies that align with business objectives, ensuring compliance with multi-jurisdictional labor laws, and fostering a culture of innovation, diversity, and excellence. MUST have experience with multi-state retail. This is a hybrid role based in Los Angeles. Remote candidates will not be considered.
Responsibilities Of The VP Of Human Resources
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement HR strategies that support business growth, talent acquisition, and employee engagement across multiple states.
- Retail HR Operations: Oversee HR operations for multi-state retail locations, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, including wage and hour regulations, employee relations, and safety compliance.
- Talent Acquisition & Retention: Lead recruitment and retention strategies to attract top talent in both corporate and retail functions. Build and maintain an employer brand that reflects company culture and values.
- Employee Relations & Compliance: Establish policies and procedures that support a positive workplace culture, resolve employee concerns, and ensure adherence to employment laws across various states.
- Compensation & Benefits: Design and oversee competitive compensation and benefits programs tailored for retail and corporate employees. Ensure compliance with multi-state labor regulations and industry best practices.
- Training & Development: Develop leadership and employee development programs that enhance skills, support career progression, and align with company goals.
- Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI): Champion DEI initiatives, fostering a workplace that is inclusive and representative of diverse perspectives.
- HR Systems & Analytics: Leverage HR technology to streamline processes, track key HR metrics, and drive data-informed decision-making.
Required Experience/Skills for the VP of Human Resources:
- 10+ years of progressive HR leadership experience, with at least 5 years in a multi-state retail environment.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state labor laws, with experience managing HR compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
- Experience in the fashion or apparel retail industry preferred.
- Proven ability to develop and execute HR strategies that drive business success.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with HRIS systems and workforce analytics.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving retail environment.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- Master's degree preferred.
